Dolphins are a family in the order Cetacea, comprising nearly 40 species divided into 17 genera, of streamlined aquatic mammals. Dolphins have large brains and a cerebral cortex with a complex structure, so they are considered by many zoologists to be among the animals with the highest intelligence.
